Keith Betts
Solicitor Advocate
Keith has been working in the legal profession since 1988, originally qualifying as a Fellow of The Institute of Legal Executives before completing his qualification as a solicitor at the University of West of England, Bristol.
Having originally trained in Commercial Law and Property, Keith Betts spent some time specialising in Criminal Litigation and became a Higher Court Advocate, including successful appearances in the Court of Appeal before The Lord Chief Justice.
In later years Keith came back to his passion for Commercial work and offers business clients significant business experience in all transactions.
Jackie Hearn-Betts

Jackie Hearn-Betts has worked in Criminal Litigation since 1979 and previously worked for two high profile London based Criminal Defence Firms. Jackie’s work has involved representing individuals charged with murder, drug smuggling, large scale gun importations and serious sexual assault. This includes some very high-profile defence work over the years.
Jackie was a Director of Betts & Co for 12 years prior to Betts & Co becoming part of Robson & Co in 2017 at which point Jackie became a Director of Robson & Co.
Jackie is head of our Criminal Litigation Department and is based in our Ashford Office.
Simon Latchford
Director
Head of Private Client
Location – Hythe
Fully accredited member of Solicitors for the Elderly.
Area of work:- Wills, LPA’s and Deputyship applications. Administration of estate. Able to see client in the office or at their home if they are not able to come to the office.
Simon is a qualified solicitor who runs our Private Client Department and specialises in Elderly law and is a fully accredited member of Solicitors for the Elderly. He is an expert in Wills, Powers of Attorneys, Probates and Estates as well as Firearms law.
Originally from the North, Simon brings practical solutions to your problems in a simple and cost effective manner.
In his spare time Simon enjoys horse riding, shooting, fishing and skiing.
Barry Keating
Solicitor
Location – Hythe
Barry Keating qualified as a solicitor in 1981. His areas of practice include Criminal Law, Employment, Business Contracts, Liquor Licensing, Landlord and Tenant, Property Litigation, Conveyancing and Family Law.
Outside the office, Barry Keating’s interests are mainly sporting. He is a keen golfer, tennis player and skier and is also interested in country pursuits. Barry Keating also takes an active interest in local issues and is a parent governor at a local primary school.

Catriona Williamson

Catriona is a qualified solicitor specialising in Residential Property Law. Since qualifying in February 2023, she has adopted a fresh, client-cantered approach to legal practice, focusing on delivering a smooth and efficient process for each client. Catriona’s legal approach is rooted in clear communication and personalised service, ensuring each client receives tailored solutions based on their unique needs. With a strong foundation from her academic studies and further professional training, she has developed key skills in negotiation, problem-solving, and attention to detail, all of which are critical to her success in property law
Outside of work, Catriona enjoys travelling, reading, cooking, and attending networking events, reflecting her commitment to professional development and commercial awareness.
Alison Holmes
Legal Executive

During the 1990’s Alison decided to enrol for a law GCSE evening course with adult education as an interest. Discovering that she enjoyed the course she went on to study a further year for an A level. Having achieved this and to progress she was accepted at University of Kent where in 2006 she graduated with a 2.1 LLB(hons). At this point she transferred her career in retail management to a career in law within a litigation department carrying out mortgagee repossession claims and sales.
Alison later graduated as a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives and joined a firm in their residential property team carrying out various property transactions including sales and purchases, plot sales, help to buy transactions, transfers of equity, re-mortgages and equity release. Alison is now enjoying the opportunity to work remotely with a unique client.
Sophie Goodban
Solicitor
Location – Hythe
Sophie studied Law at Canterbury Christ Church University and graduated in 2020 with a First-Class degree. She then went on to complete the Legal Practice Course and Masters of Laws at the University of Law in London. Sophie qualified as a solicitor in 2024 and is now heads up our Family Law Team.
In her spare time, Sophie enjoys reading and spending time with her Border Terrier, Ruby.
Samuel Jones
Solicitor
Location – Hythe
Samuel graduated from his degree in Philosophy before completing his GDL and Legal Practice Course at the University of Law in 2016 and qualified as a Solicitor in March 2020. Prior to this he worked as a tax litigation paralegal in HM Revenue & Customs. Samuel is working in the private client department and handles Wills, Lasting Power of Attorney and Contentious Probate matters.
Samuel also handles various litigation matters. Samuel enjoys researching and understanding novel aspects of law, his essay entry for the Law Society Junior Lawyer’s Division Essay Competition 2017 placed Highly Commended. During his free time Samuel enjoys running, kayaking, making documentaries and tackling his growing library of books
Lorna Rainey
Conveyancer
Location – Ashford
Lorna is a Conveyancer in the Property Department, specialising in all aspects of residential conveyancing including sales, purchases, remortgages, and transfers of equity. She holds an undergraduate degree in Classical Literature and Civilisation from the University of Birmingham, followed by the LLB for Graduates from the same institution.
Currently pursuing the CLC Level 6 Diploma in Conveyancing Law and Practice, Lorna is on the path to becoming a Licensed Conveyancer. With a strong focus on client satisfaction and a commitment to seamless property transactions, Lorna works diligently to ensure that every residential sale, purchase, and remortgage is handled with professionalism and efficiency.
